Is this process stoppable ? The ubiquitous and multidimensional percolation of plastic in every facet of life. The accelerating development of technology is so natural and obvious that we do not even notice how technology seizes our lives and how it penetrates it. The hard world of technology fuses with the organic form of existence and sometimes invades it, disrupting the existing order of things. The combination of pure oil painting and artificial silicone or plastic seems incompatible, even contradictory, yet combinable. The tangle of forms is intentional and expresses the impossibility of reversing the process that is constantly moving forward.
We have to produce more and more artificial things to survive, because natural goods are no longer enough to satisfy humanity’s needs. How far will this process go?
The works in the series Plastic Reality, which are assemblage in nature, use plastic elements such as corks or parts of damaged plastic bottles as well as silicone. The nature of these works allows for additional use of light behind the image (Accumulation, Source, Baltic 2020), which has a great impact on the reception of the work.
