Fragmentation 2016
A series of 6 paintings (1.7×1.1m) creating a composition of 3.4×3.3m. Each of the paintings is a part of the composition but can at the same time constitute a separate work.
The circle symbolizes perfection, unity, it expresses the absolute. In Zen philosophy, the sphere signifies the highest form of enlightening and symbolizes human perfection.
Due to civilization, specialization of scientists has become the condition for development. An increasingly narrow scope of intellectual work causes people to gradually lose touch with remaining areas of science and consequently lose the skill to interpret the universe holistically. A specialist knows a lot about its tiny section of the universe and contributes to its development, but is an amateur in other areas and is not capable of grasping the entirety.
The boundary between what is real and what has been artificially created by media, theory and digital world is becoming blurred, and the copy replaces the original. Mass communication as a tool in the hands of the dominating system is perfect for the artificially generated and infinitely copied images which only imitate reality. Our imagery becomes more perfect than the original, which leads to replacing reality with fragmented images and false pictures, which we consider the only true and authentic ones.
